A Word from Dennis. . .
January, 2012
On Friday before the Christmas weekend I saw a man at Shallowford Road holding a well-lettered sign it read "To Kentucky for Christmas" I Briefly considered what I should do, but then he was past and gone. We live in a time when it is dangerous and illegal to hitch a ride on inter-states, but I surely did understand his sentiment to go home.
Like salmon going upstream by the million, we try our best. By the time you get this Christmas will be over.
Some will experience wealth, hope and hospitality.
Others will be sad and disappointed. I hope the traveler got home. I am still haunted by the thought—
was he Jesus?
Dennis
A Word from Jerry. . .
The first half of Isaiah 43:19 says, "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" God is constantly showing us the new thing that He is doing. The opportunity for us regarding God's new work is always the same: to recognize it and to join Him in it. 2012 offers that opportunity for
GraceWorks. I pray that we will each enter this new year looking for new ways to know God, love Him, and serve Him, as well as discover new ways to love and serve each other and the people of Greater Chattanooga.
Some of the new things happening this month at GraceWorks include:
"Come Out Of Hiding" Jan. 8
"Discovering Grace" Jan. 15 @ 9am for those interested in knowing more about our church
"What A Beautiful Mess: Thirty Years That Changed The World," Jan. 12 @ 7pm
"God's Search" Jan. 15
Also, Dennis and I will begin the second phase of the "Gospel According to Jesus" series on Jan. 22.
Phase 2 will focus on the Gospel of Luke.
I hope you and your family have a great 2012. It is a privilege to be in ministry with each of you.
Peace,
